Why does Foam Sweet Foam use only 100% Natural Latex and not the latex blend (natural & synthetic) in their mattresses and toppers?
The Short Answer – The majority of people who order from us want a natural product without any synthetic materials.
The Long Answer - We added latex mattresses to our product line in the mid 1990's and sold thousands of them using latex blend. In 2002, we brought in a new product – 100% Natural Dunlop Latex. It attracted very little attention and many of the people who bought the mattresses were more than a little extreme. In 2003 we discontinued selling it, never intending to sell 100% Natural Latex again.
In January of 2005, Latex International began pouring 100% Natural Talalay Latex and we were contacted by them to sell it. We were one of 5 vendors chosen to showcase this new product. Because of our previous (negative) experience selling 100% Natural Latex, we were quite reluctant, but . . . What happened in the next 7 months shocked us. The 100% Natural Talalay became nearly 80% of our latex sales and the customers were great! We definitely didn't see this coming. Because of the subsequent lack of sales of latex blend, we discontinued selling it and added (back) the 100% Natural Dunlop.
We can't explain the contrasting experiences we had selling 100% Natural Latex, but we think the pendulum in America swung towards natural and organic between 2003 and 2005 and is still moving that direction. After this new positive experience with the 100% Natural Latex, we changed all the materials in our mattress covers to be natural as well. We feel that we sell the best mattress, not only for the natural aspect, but also for the comfort aspect. If you have ever slept on latex, you know.
Which latex is the best latex – 100% Natural Talalay, 100% Natural Dunlop, Talalay Blend, or Dunlop Blend?
The Short Answer – All of them are good except for the Dunlop Blend.
The Long Answer - People read and are told a lot of things. We have found that when someone is told that a certain type of latex is not good, it is usually by a company that does not sell the “bad” latex. They are trying to sell what they stock by degrading the product they do not stock. We sell the Dunlop and the Talalay in the 100% Natural – both are good. It makes no difference to us which one you choose. We do not sell the Talalay Blend, but we can honestly say it is a very good product. The reason we don't sell it is because people don't want it – they want a natural product.
The Dunlop Blend is the only one that we cannot recommend. In May of 2001, Latex International had a fire which destroyed their factory. During the year of rebuilding, there was no latex available that was made in the United States. We tested Dunlop Blend from two different vendors and were totally unimpressed with both. The latex had no life and felt dead right out of the box. We chose not sell latex rather than sell an inferior product. Fortunately, Latex International came back after the fire even better than before with a state of the art manufacturing facility in Connecticut.
Why do your mattresses cost $3000 less than some of your competitors? Are your mattresses inferior?
The Short Answer – NO
The Long Answer - Not at all. We may lack some of their overhead costs such as a high traffic location, high advertising costs, a commissioned sales force, a large showroom, an owner with expensive tastes, etc. Other than down feathers, our mattresses lack nothing compared to theirs. You cannot top the quality of an all latex mattress.
How soon will I receive my order?
If you order a latex mattress, it will ship the same or next business day. Depending on where you live, the delivery time will be 1-5 business days. If you order a custom item, allow 1-2 weeks for shipping.
Can I request a specific day to have my order delivered?
Yes, as long as it is not Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday. Many people who are moving, going on vacation, or want to be home when the order arrives choose to designate a certain date to have the order delivered. We do this for customers nearly every week - it is not an inconvenience.
Can I get Overnight, 2nd Day, or Saturday delivery?
Yes, but not shipped FREE. We will pass on whatever the shipping costs are for the service you want.
What are the shipping options for residents of Alaska or Hawaii?
For residents of Hawaii, UPS and Fedex now have programs for Hawaii orders. Shiptohawaii.com is also a very good option. For Alaska residents, 3rd Day Air is best for small packages and Lynden Transport or any other company that brings freight up on a barge is the best choice for larger packages.
Why are your prices so much lower than many of your competitors?
Foam Sweet Foam began in 1982 selling polyurethane foam. We have evolved to the point of selling high end 100% Natural Latex mattresses. Many of our competitors started in the mattress business (where there are substantial markups) and added foam mattresses to their product line. Others have a large advertising budget, so their prices will be higher.
What warranties do you offer?
Foam Sweet Foam has the following warranties on its foam:
100% Natural Talalay Latex - 30 years
100% Natural Dunlop Latex - 30 years
We will replace the foam if it loses 1/2 inch of thickness due to fatigue. This is a full warranty and is not pro-rated.
Will there be a glue seam in the foam components of my mattress?
Talalay Latex is poured in a mold that is 40" x 80". All domestic pieces of Latex larger than a twin or twin long will have a glue seam. This is nothing to be concerned with because the glue is water based and the bond is very strong and will not come apart.
